LIFE:CAPTURED began in August 2013 when we held our first full-day workshop at RAW Space in Sydney, Australia. Our mission is to help people document their stories and create tangible keepsakes to be treasured for generations to come. We offer intensive design, photography, and memory keeping workshops, as well as interactive online classes. We are advocates of honest photography, minimalist design, and memory keeping that's simple, beautiful, and tangible. We are the pioneers of the story book, and we offer flexible templates that enable everybody to tell their story. We believe that life is worth remembering and that it is never too early or too late to start documenting yours. LIFE:CAPTURED was founded by Rhonda Mason (of the Pink Ronnie blog) and Trish Chong (of Tealily Photography).

"I'll be honest, I had some doubts about whether Lightroom would be worth the price, or could I just use freeware, and whether the class really needed six weeks, and many more uncertainties before I decided to take the plunge. It has been absolutely wonderful, worth every penny for the class and for the software. I have learned sooooo much, and am absolutely thrilled."

"I really loved taking part in the Photo Organisation with Lightroom online class because I needed some good advice on how to organize my photos. Ronnie is very organized and has let us in on her secrets about how Lightroom can be a super time saver for our memory keeping. It helped a lot - I got an excellent overview over the functions of Lightroom, how I can tag my photos, so I can find them when needed for a project and be more efficient in the memory keeping workflow. In fact, I'm in the middle of organizing my photos, the backlog and also the current ones! So it really got me started and I learned a lot - thank you so much!"

"I can't say enough for these two online classes I did with you - they were invaluable (both in terms of money and content)! I have taken other online classes before, but these two have stood out from the rest so far, in terms of the course content, videos, instructor feedback/help, and the ability to follow through with the material. The classes were efficiently divided into six weeks, and the weekly content was also structured nicely with lots of videos in between, to make it easy to understand. The theory (written part) alone would have been difficult to follow. I also liked the parts where you let us inside your workflow, of how you go along with your memory keeping projects."

"I first fell in love with memory keeping when I created my own elaborate scrapbooks in my early 20s. These scrapbooks were the paper and glue kind, and took hours upon hours to create. Enter the digital era and thousands upon thousands of photos were being stored in my computer with no home, and no stories to accompany them. I discovered the art of digital memory keeping at Pink Ronnie. I was in awe of the amazing Project Life layouts and simply beautiful story books. I was dying to attend a Life:Captured workshop, but alas, I live in remote Western Australia.

Enter Life:Captured online classes. It was just what I was looking for! I took the InDesign course in November last year and haven't looked back. Thank you for making InDesign so easy to use, and for giving me the tools to create my own amazing layouts. The videos made me feel like you were sitting next to me each week, and the course materials were beautifully presented and so inspiring. I have adopted the workflow tips you shared and more than halved the time to collate my Project Life album each week. But more than that, I have gained the confidence to create my first story book and designed a template for my "portrait a week project."

"For years, I've wanted to jump into a more structured memory keeping system. It wasn't until I enrolled in Ronnie's Adobe InDesign for Beginners class that I finally felt I had the tools to begin. I have always admired Ronnie's simplistic format in her life albums and templates, and was intrigued to learn more about the InDesign program she used. I had been completely overwhelmed with the amount of products and programs used to create life album spreads, so I decided to give it a go and enroll in her InDesign class. This class came at a very important time in my life - right before our first son was born - and I am so glad I had a system in place before he arrived. With life albums, there are so many ideas out there, and so much inspiration - but Ronnie's templates are perfect for my lifestyle because they are simple, beautiful, and easy to use on a weekly basis. The InDesign class itself is straightforward and easy-to-follow. I love how she highlights aspects of the program that are relevant to memory keeping. I printed out my notes from the class and reference them on a nearly weekly basis as I put together my life album spreads. I would whole-heartedly recommend this course to anyone who is interested in memory keeping, but who doesn't know where to begin. The InDesign for Beginners course, combined with the beautiful templates available on LIFE:CAPTURED Inc, have helped me create an easy and straightforward system for memory keeping, for which I am forever grateful."

“I loved taking part in the Adobe InDesign for Beginners class. I found it very informative and helpful in learning the foundations of Indesign and how to start using it to produce photobooks but also my own ebooks for my business. I found the online classroom to be very supportive and the forums were great for asking questions and getting very prompt feedback. The course has no doubt been meticulously designed and many hours of work poured into the preparation of printed materials and the class videos as they are all of a very high quality. I loved the course and have learnt so much. Many thanks."

Visual Storytelling (Online)

I found the Visual Storytelling online course enjoyable and really worthwhile.  It went beyond the basics of manual photography to guide me towards developing my own style and capturing moments the way I would like to.  The course was well-organised and the practical application of technique was demonstrated through the use of video. The class forum was a great way to interact with other students and the tutors, and Trish and Joel were also very approachable and helpful via email to problem-solve and provide feedback. I'm glad I signed up for the course, I now feel more confident with manual photography, I'm getting better results, and it has inspired me to keep learning and improving!

"Honestly, I decided to sign up to the Visual Storytelling online classes because I wanted something to distract me from my mundane day-to-day. I had just given birth to my first child 6 months earlier and right from his birth up until that point, everything was a hazy, colourless blur. I vaguely remembered the birth, the first few bleary weeks and certain milestones being reached but I felt indifferent about all of them because I was hardly paying attention. I felt lost as all the days meshed into each other, and as more time passed, the more urgency I felt to do something for myself.

I had always loved photography as an art form and thought it was high time I did something about it. So, I signed up to the Visual Storytelling class mainly to learn the technical side of things - switching from auto to manual on my DSLR. However, by the end of the five weeks, I found that I had learnt so much more than just how to turn the dials the right way on my camera. I realised I had learnt to start seeing the art in the mundane, and suddenly I realised, the course I'd started in the attempt to distract myself from my "colourless, robotic" life had led me to focus in on it more than ever and see the colours in the grey.

Trish and Joel were ever-present throughout the course via e-mail or the online forum to answer any questions we had throughout the process and they were always challenging us in their feedback of our photos to go that step further - outside of our comfort zone - to stretch us in our photography. The phrase that kept reoccurring was that 'photography is the gift that keeps on giving' and I truly feel as though I have attained an invaluable gift and skill to help me see the beauty in the regular (i.e. my son rolling to and fro on the floor) and to immortalise it through the lens."

Such big thanks to Trish and Joel for this fantastic course. I never understood anything about aperture and f-stop before no matter how much I read about it, but they just made it so clear and simple. My camera has been switched from auto to manual mode and I've never looked back! I have been loving taking photos, and have had lots of positive feedback from friends who have seen them. But mostly I appreciate the inspiration this course gave me to document our little family's daily lives, helping me to notice and capture special moments rather than just letting them fly by. Visual storytelling is so effective and so precious and so much fun! So thank you Trish and Joel for equipping me with the knowledge of how to take great photos, the inspiration to be creative, and the desire to document life and capture special moments in the craziness that happens every day with little kids. I have shot images at times when I wouldn't have thought of getting the camera out before but that I love and will treasure forever. So thankful!"
