In about three weeks' time, Joel and I will be hosting our first Visual Storytelling masterclass on Friday 20 February! There's no doubt that we’ve loved teaching our class online, but it’s also so lovely to be able to put names to faces and connect in person as we learn together. As part of the class, we will cover the technical elements of manual photography such as understanding light and composition, as well as exploring the emotional connection between you and your subject and how we create meaningful imagery through the lens.
In the midst of the January Photo-a-Day project, I am reminded why I believe so much in this class, and these skills. From the simple to the special, our personal journey of parenthood has been captured in small little snippets through tiny moments that I know will grow ever more significant as the years go on. It’s something I would love to be able to do for every family I know, but given the practicalities, I know it’s that much better to be able to pass on these skills instead and let them evolve through the eyes of the beholder.
As for the venue, we're super excited to have been able to secure The Society Inc’s fabulous corner terrace in Paddington for this masterclass. I’m sure we will be treated to a visual feast thanks to our venue, and I promise you will also come away with great confidence in your camera’s manual mode. Morning tea and lunch will be provided, along with take-home exercises and printed notes for future reference. There will also be valuable one-on-one time and plenty of opportunity for Q&A. There’s a seat or two left, so if you’re interested in joining us, be sure to drop me a line.
Can't wait to see you!
