An impulse decision to get in the car for a mid-week escape led us to the lovely little land of Berrima to visit a dear friend who had a holiday house there for the week. With these two in tow, the journey is half the adventure and after a few extra roadside stops (fuelled by frantic restless tears and pacified with big molten chocolate cookies from the closest service station), we were finally greeted with the cool, crispy Autumn air so familiar at this time in the Southern Highlands. After a bit of a play in the park and a lovely lunch, we took a wander down a surprise path that led us through a quiet walk complete with a running river under unexpected stone cliffs. Those few hours of getting away from the norm is all we really need sometime to rest - reinvigorated by the changing seasons, the Creator’s landscape, and the joy of togetherness along the way.
