LIFE:CAPTURED began in August 2013 when we held our first full-day workshop at RAW Space in Sydney, Australia. Our mission is to help people document their stories and create tangible keepsakes to be treasured for generations to come. We offer intensive design, photography, and memory keeping workshops, as well as interactive online classes. We are advocates of honest photography, minimalist design, and memory keeping that's simple, beautiful, and tangible. We are the pioneers of the story book, and we offer flexible templates that enable everybody to tell their story. We believe that life is worth remembering and that it is never too early or too late to start documenting yours. LIFE:CAPTURED was founded by Rhonda Mason (of the Pink Ronnie blog) and Trish Chong (of Tealily Photography).

The blog

The official blog of LIFE:CAPTURED Inc, the modern school of memory keeping. We believe that life is worth remembering and that it is never too early or too late to start documenting yours. We blog about design, photography, and how you can preserve your story with timeless, tangible keepsakes.

Online Class Recap: Visual Storytelling

Online Class Recap: Visual Storytelling - A blog post by Trish Chong for LIFE:CAPTURED Inc (The modern school of memory keeping)

My little family and I were invited to the sweetest little backyard christmas movie night on Sunday night: popcorn, spiced cider, and gingerbread cookies among fairy lights, rugs, and pillows.  It was just gorgeous! By chance, we met a couple who were familiar with us from being friends with one of our recent Visual Storytelling online class students and I grinned as they mentioned how lovely her photo taking skills had become! Not that we can really take much credit for the work our students themselves put in, but it was a nice reminder for me that I'd wanted to write a short little thank you and reflection up on this blog about our first class.

Joel and I had lots of fun putting it together (except perhaps for that intro video, which took a few too many takes for the length that it was!), and we were stoked to see how wonderfully our students engaged with the coursework and diligently sent through their homework. Even the questions as the class progressed made us excited as we realised how much people were taking in, and how excited they themselves were to have little bits and pieces click over time, resulting in big improvements to their control of their camera and their experience as a whole. It was also such a joy to see little snippets of people’s lives shared throughout the class, made even more special as we had attendees not only from Sydney but also from New York, Italy, Cambodia, Indonesia, Singapore, and London.

We just wanted to say a huge thank you to the students for being alongside us as we began this first session of online classes. We hope the skills you have all gained will bring many treasured memories in the years ahead, and we hope you stay in touch too! Here are a few of our favourites from your homework projects:

For those of you who’d like to come along for the ride, our next session of online classes begin on Monday 9 February 2015.  Or perhaps this might be the perfect answer to that last minute gift you’ve been needing to check off the list! You can read more about our online classes here or feel free to email Ronnie and myself if you have any questions.
