LIFE:CAPTURED began in August 2013 when we held our first full-day workshop at RAW Space in Sydney, Australia. Our mission is to help people document their stories and create tangible keepsakes to be treasured for generations to come. We offer intensive design, photography, and memory keeping workshops, as well as interactive online classes. We are advocates of honest photography, minimalist design, and memory keeping that's simple, beautiful, and tangible. We are the pioneers of the story book, and we offer flexible templates that enable everybody to tell their story. We believe that life is worth remembering and that it is never too early or too late to start documenting yours. LIFE:CAPTURED was founded by Rhonda Mason (of the Pink Ronnie blog) and Trish Chong (of Tealily Photography).

Over a year ago, Rick and I escaped to the stunning Bendooley Estate in Berrima for two nights to celebrate our tenth wedding anniversary. It was - quite literally - the perfect getaway, filled with nothing but long stretches of time for us to read, write, eat, sleep, and go for quiet walks together. We took ourselves out to dinner at the most amazing restaurant I have ever eaten at, and I spent every spare moment I had chasing light and making imagery with my camera.

To be completely honest, there are times when I feel rather uninspired when I'm putting together our life album pages - usually when the photos do not speak to me. However, I can say without a doubt that every single one of these images pulls at my heartstrings. When I look at them, I can remember the exact moment I clicked the shutter, and I can recall precisely what I was thinking and how I was feeling at the time. To me, that goes to show the power of imagery, and how a heartfelt picture can truly speak a thousand words.

As you can see, I didn't limit myself to just two pages, like I usually do for a normal week. Rick and I only go away once a year at most, so I felt it appropriate to allocate more 'real estate' for this momentous occasion. Plus, the extra pages enabled me to include all my favourite photos and to create layouts that have a natural, visual flow to them. To me, even with the bare amount of text I chose to include, each page tells its own poignant story...

I didn't know it at the time, but soon after we returned home from our beautiful getaway, a storm erupted in our personal lives - a storm that would loom over us for the next twelve months. To me, these beautiful pages are not only a reminder of our precious time together, but also an everlasting tribute to our marriage and the fact that no matter what happens, or how others might try to hurt us or bring us down, we will always have each other. And no one can ever take that away from us.

Whilst I do have plans to create a new story book template as a way of documenting romantic getaways like this one, I'm really glad that these pages form part of our family life album

It is a part of our family's story, after all...
