LIFE:CAPTURED began in August 2013 when we held our first full-day workshop at RAW Space in Sydney, Australia. Our mission is to help people document their stories and create tangible keepsakes to be treasured for generations to come. We offer intensive design, photography, and memory keeping workshops, as well as interactive online classes. We are advocates of honest photography, minimalist design, and memory keeping that's simple, beautiful, and tangible. We are the pioneers of the story book, and we offer flexible templates that enable everybody to tell their story. We believe that life is worth remembering and that it is never too early or too late to start documenting yours. LIFE:CAPTURED was founded by Rhonda Mason (of the Pink Ronnie blog) and Trish Chong (of Tealily Photography).

The blog

The official blog of LIFE:CAPTURED Inc, the modern school of memory keeping. We believe that life is worth remembering and that it is never too early or too late to start documenting yours. We blog about design, photography, and how you can preserve your story with timeless, tangible keepsakes.

ONE // Launching the new workshop-in-a-box concept has been a real labour of love. The idea began brewing in my mind when I was conceptualising workshop kits for the 2015 participants of our #unravelyourphotos boot camp. Even though the packing and shipping was hard work, there was something undeniably special about putting something physical and tangible into the hands of others. At the same time, it was becoming increasingly obvious to me that some people preferred to have access to our class content for a longer period of time. Putting the two together, our first ever workshop-in-a-box was born. When I fell pregnant, I put the idea on the back burner, thinking I would be too exhausted to get it underway and indeed, I ended up spending most of my first trimester lying on the couch - just as nature intended. However, once my fatigue and nausea departed in my second trimester, my creative mojo came back with a vengeance, and I decided that we needed to give the workshop boxes a go. What followed was a month of writing, editing, emailing, researching, budgeting, printing, collaborating, prepping for photo shoots, more editing, more emailing, and lots and lots of list-making in Google Docs. I read multiple lengthy documents regarding international freight and shipping and submitted countless online quote requests in a bid to work out the most economical (and efficient) method of shipping overseas. Despite the many late nights, the entire experience has been invaluable. When we were finally ready to launch on Monday morning, I was rather in disbelief and felt almost too nervous to press 'publish.' While I plan to write about the process in more detail down the track, I just want to acknowledge and thank everyone who's been a part of the journey and I'm truly excited to see where this will all go in the future. In the meantime, if you're interested in winning two of our workshop-in-a-box packages (worth $690.00 AUD) so that you and a friend can #unravelyourphotos together, pop on over to our Instagram account to enter our giveaway which ends on Sunday 29 November 11.00pm EST!

TWO // I also want to take this opportunity to thank all of the participants of our #unravelyourphoto boot camp for 2015. They've been hugely supportive behind the scenes and, in particular, I'd like to make special mention of Carly, Gertrudes, and Katherine for their amazing ability to keep up with the lessons and write about them on their blogs and Instagram accounts despite the busyness of everyday life. Carly's blog and Gertrude's blog are definitely worth visiting if you want to find out more about the Photo Organisation with Lightroom online class, as they both review each of the six lessons in great depth. Hosting the boot camp has been great fun, and I hope that it's inspired some of you to #unravelyourphotos!

THREE // Yesterday afternoon, we made a very spontaneous decision to take part in the Black Friday cybersale this year for the first time ever. So if you've had your eye on a design template, or an online class, or even our brand new workshop-in-a-box, now is probably the best time to treat yourself as we're offering 20% discount sitewide for 24 hours only! Simply use the code BLACK20 at checkout before 11.30pm EST on Friday 27 November 2015.

FOUR // On a personal note, our 'little' Bear started daycare a couple of weeks ago, and I am so proud of the way he's coped and adjusted. Funny how our little ones always turn out to be more resilient than we think they are. Despite the tiny mother's guilt niggling at my heart, I can't help but be excited at the prospect of an extra day to work. For a while now, I feel like all I've been doing is 'maintaining' this business of ours, but now I feel like I'll have the opportunity to actually grow our brand. No doubt everything will change again once the new baby arrives, but for now, I'm excited and thankful for the here and now, and all the possibilities to come.

FIVE // As for Trish and Joel, they are finally at the tail end of their renovations and they cannot wait to move back home. In particular, Trish is looking forward to having a place for everything, putting everything in its place, and falling into a rhythm that hopefully brings a little more sanity to their daily lives and - fingers crossed - a nice big dose of creative mojo along the way. As Trish says in her own words, "I'm so thankful for the love and hospitality of our parents, but I don’t think I’ll ever underestimate the beauty of a place and space to call our own."

SIX // It's Trish's birthday next month and, to celebrate, she's put together a lovely family session package just for you guys, as a way of saying thanks for all that you bring to our community here at LIFE:CAPTURED Inc. This special package is available for the month of December only, and you don't even need to be in Sydney to book in, as Trish is happy to travel as long as three or more sessions are booked in any one place. How cool is that? Email Trish for all the details, and make sure you wish her a happy birthday!
