LIFE:CAPTURED began in August 2013 when we held our first full-day workshop at RAW Space in Sydney, Australia. Our mission is to help people document their stories and create tangible keepsakes to be treasured for generations to come. We offer intensive design, photography, and memory keeping workshops, as well as interactive online classes. We are advocates of honest photography, minimalist design, and memory keeping that's simple, beautiful, and tangible. We are the pioneers of the story book, and we offer flexible templates that enable everybody to tell their story. We believe that life is worth remembering and that it is never too early or too late to start documenting yours. LIFE:CAPTURED was founded by Rhonda Mason (of the Pink Ronnie blog) and Trish Chong (of Tealily Photography).

The blog

Around here: Christmas concerts

Last month, I confessed to being a slack school mum - or more accurately, the slackest school mum in the southern hemisphere. Nonetheless, I am proud to say that I made it to my three big boys' Christmas concerts. Yup, I went to all three of them. All in the one week too, might I add. So if nothing else, at least I've done that.

As cliche as it sounds, I have to admit that I did feel that tiny surge of pride watching the boys perform. Jamie knew the words to all the songs (and kept turning towards us whenever he sang the words, "I love you!"), Pete danced in time with the music and looked more at ease on the dance floor than Rick and I ever have, and Angus waited very patiently through twenty odd songs to sing the very last Christmas carol with the rest of the kindergarten choir in front of the whole primary school.

And Bear. Oh my goodness, that kid cracks me up. At Angus' Christmas concert, he kept trying to run away from us, and Jamie had to keep bringing him back. At one point, he walked right up to the school band at the front of the hall and just stood there next to the conductor. Clearly not one to shy away from the limelight.

Last year, I took all the Christmas concert photos on my iPhone as I had no intention of lugging my SLR around whilst trying to keep an eye on four boys. This year, my Fujifilm x100s meant that I could capture decent quality shots on a camera that slipped easily into my handbag. I have to say - I'm so happy with what I can do now with this compact mirrorless camera now that I've had a year of practice. I've already included these photos in our family life album and I also plan to include them into a photo book, as well as the boys' individual life albums.
